Our Apprenticeship Programme

Each year, we offer a unique opportunity to an aspiring young person to join the J P Chick & Partners Ltd team through our Apprenticeship Programme. Rotating between our Civil, Structural and Environmental teams, we enable the successful candidate to gain practical industry experience and build their professional skillset, whilst studying for an appropriate degree at Anglian Ruskin University.

Over the last few years, we have welcomed Toby Souter into our Civil team, Lewis Calver into our Structural team, and most recently Katherine Carpenter into our Environmental Team. Earning while they learn, they can get ahead in their career working alongside and learning from experienced colleagues whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

Here are a few thoughts from our apprentices –

“The immediate responsibility afforded to me as an Apprentice at J P Chick & Partners Ltd has meant that I have been able to rapidly develop my practical and inter-personal skills on challenging schemes. The day release style format for the Engineering Degree apprenticeship has provided me with ample time to excel at my studies, whilst giving me the opportunity to learn the theory behind engineering, which I can apply to real life projects.” Lewis Hunt, Structural Apprentice

“As an Apprentice at J P Chick & Partners Ltd, I have acquired comprehensive experience across various sectors of Civil Engineering. The opportunity to simultaneously pursue my degree while gaining practical industry experience has significantly contributed to my development as a well-rounded engineer. J P Chick & Partners Ltd has provided me with the flexibility to effectively manage both my professional responsibilities and academic commitments.” Toby Souter, Civil Apprentice

“My Apprenticeship at J P Chick & Partners Ltd has been an irreplaceable experience that has and will continue to shape by professional journey in environmental management. My mentors and colleagues provide me with invaluable guidance, helping me to develop both technical skills and confidence in my abilities. The hands-on experience allows me to apply what I learn in a real-world environment, deepening my understanding of the industry.” Katherine Carpenter, Environmental Apprentice
