The Marquis of Cornwallis in Hadleigh, Suffolk, underwent developments to extend the luxury hotel and create a new spa and wedding events venue on site.
The design work was undertaken by KLH Architects, who instructed J P Chick & Partners Ltd for all structural engineering aspects of the project. We designed the substructure and superstructures required for the hotel extension, as well as the associated civils design.
“A key aspect was the basement swimming pool; having experience across numerous leisure projects, our team were able to offer expert advice on the creation of a new concrete structure that would house the swimming pool” says Paul Davis, Consultant at J P Chick & Partners Ltd.
For the wedding venue itself, a steel frame superstructure was designed, and requirements of the surrounding car parking facilities and cloister were also carefully considered. Finally, with a dedicated Sustainable Drainage Design team within the company, J P Chick & Partners Ltd designed and advised on the additional drainage requirements for all new aspects of the project.
