Historic

JP Chick & Partners Ltd have wide experience of the conversion of important listed buildings utilising in-house design skills. When listed / historic buildings are converted for change of use, the design must be sympathetic to the fabric of the original structure. The new structural design must extend the life of the original building.

We have considerable experience in specifying repairs to historic and listed buildings, for example, designing hardwood timber jointing details and detailing repairs to original masonry and flintwork. In addition we have utilised ingeneous methods to incorporate the use of modern materials into the existing building fabric to provide enhanced stability.

Our most recent ‘high profile’ project includes work at the Cellarium at Westminster Abbey, London where we have been acting as Temporary Works Co-ordinator during the Dean and Chapter’s development plan to improve access for visitors.
